About the Author
Nanette
Thorsen-Snipes is a freelance writer of 20 years and an award-winning
author. She began writing in 1981 when her mother was terminally ill with
cancer. She began with a year of humorous family columns in a local newspaper.
Though she always had an interest in writing, a strong desire was born
at that time to write from her heart.
She
wrote for several different publications before she felt God's call on
her writing. She then began writing for Him beginning with two greeting
cards and progressing to devotions for The Upper Room and Pathways to
God. After reading a number of writing books, she wrote her first heartfelt
article about her youngest son, Jonathan, called "The Greatest of These."
This article, originally published in 1990 by Power for Living, has been
reprinted in Standard Magazine, Woman's World, and in compilation books
such as Stories for a Faithful Heart, Heartstirring Stories of Romance,
Melody of the Heart E-Zine and Chicken Soup for the Christian Family Soul.
Her
stories may be found in over 14 compilation books including Stories for
a Faithful Heart, Multnomah and Stories for the Extreme Teen's Heart,
Multnomah, which is a finalist for the 2001 Gold Medallion Award. Her
work appears in God's Abundance, Starburst Publishing; Small Miracles
for Women, Adams Media and others.
Nanette's
first children's book, Elijah Helps the Widow, is an Arch Book by Concordia
which was released July, 2001. She has a humorous Thanksgiving story coming
out in Focus on the Family's Clubhouse Magazine. Currently, she is in
the process of writing a series of children's picture books. Her articles
and reprints have appeared in a number of magazines including Clubhouse,
Jr., Woman's World, Christian Reader, Accent on Living, Positive Living
Magazine, Home Life, Power for Living and others.
Married
for 25 years to Jim, Nanette has four adult children and two grandchildren.
The only child she has left at home is Possum, her feisty cat who thinks
he's a dog.
