Basic
editing including help with grammar, punctuation,
structure, flow, and other elements of good writing. Work
may be performed through snail mail, fax, or in Microsoft
Word. In Microsoft Word, editing is done with the "track
changes" feature. This feature will show "removed"
material and "added" material in different colors,
so you can readily see the editing.
Proofreading
involves the correction of typographical errors, misspellings,
punctuation errors and general formatting errors. Sometimes,
proofreading consists of comparing two documents for correctness.
Copyediting
additionally may include grammar, word usage, capitalization
and format. Formatting includes correction of page numbers,
headings, paragraphs, quotes, etc.

As a freelance
writer for more than 20 years and editor/proofreader for
