Basic Editing — Includes help with grammar, punctuation, structure, flow, and other elements of good writing. Work may be performed through postal mail, fax, or in MS Word. In MS Word, editing is done with the "track changes" feature. This feature will show "removed" material and "added" material in different colors, so you can readily see the editing.

Specific Types of Editing / Copyediting / Proofreading:

Proofreading — Involves the correction of typographical errors, misspellings, general formatting errors. Sometimes, proofreading consists of comparing two documents for correctness.

Copyediting — May additionally include grammar, word usage, capitalization and format.

Formatting — Includes correction of page numbers, headings, paragraphs, quotes, etc.
